A piano doesn't always travel with the rest of a household. Sometimes an instrument changes hands after an online ad, a music school moves it to another room, or it goes to a workshop for restoration and comes home a few months later. In cases like these, piano transport in Wrocław is a separate job with a single load and two addresses, often with nobody there we have met before. Here we explain how to prepare for such a move so it doesn't end in a problem at the door.
Buying or selling a piano
Used instruments most often change hands through classified ads. The buyer comes round, plays a few chords, agrees a price and only then thinks about transport. Before you book transport, do three things: ask a piano tuner to assess the instrument, because a cracked soundboard or loose tuning pins mean the move may cost more than the piano is worth; measure the instrument's route into your home; and agree with the seller who will be there on collection day.
- The dimensions of the piano: height, width and depth – usually on the maker's plate or in the ad.
- Floor and stairs at the seller's and the buyer's end, separately.
- The seller's contact details and the times when we can collect the instrument.
- Payment for the purchase settled before we arrive – we don't hand over payments on behalf of either party.
Music schools, halls and community centres
Institutions move instruments for other reasons: a change of rehearsal room, a loan for a concert, building renovation. In schools and concert halls there are corridors, ramps and goods lifts to deal with, as well as dates tied to the timetable. We plan such moves for times when the corridors are empty, and include the commissioning institution's details on the VAT invoice. If several instruments are changing location at once, we combine them in one trip.
A piano to restoration and back
Restoration workshops take an instrument in whatever condition it is in – sometimes with peeling veneer or a loose fallboard. Before transport we secure the moving parts and photograph the condition of the case, so it is clear what damage predates the move. After restoration the instrument has fresh French polish, which can be particularly delicate for the first few weeks, so on the way back we wrap it in an extra layer of soft material.

Yes, if the seller has been told and the purchase has been paid for. At collection we inspect the case and note any visible damage.
Will you move a digital piano?
Yes. It's lighter than an acoustic piano but sensitive to knocks, so we pack it in its original box or in blankets and film.
Will you collect a restored piano straight from the workshop?
Yes. All we need is a date agreed with the workshop and to know whether the keyboard and action have already been refitted.
Do you transport instruments for music schools?
Yes. Jobs for institutions are invoiced with a VAT invoice, and we fit the date around the timetable.
What can I do with an old piano nobody wants?
It's worth asking restoration workshops and schools first. If nobody is interested, we'll carry the instrument out and take it to a place that accepts bulky waste.
