Moving in Elbląg

Elbląg lies between the Vistula Delta lowlands and the Elbląg Upland, where Pomerania meets Warmia. Moving in Elbląg with 4RELO mainly means long routes from and to Wrocław, as well as moves from Elbląg to the Tricity and abroad. Over such distances, a good plan is what matters most: when we load, when we set off and what time the crew will start carrying in the furniture.

Wrocław–Elbląg: two route options

OptionRouteWhen we choose it
via PoznańS5 to Poznań and Bydgoszcz, A1 towards Gdańsk, S7 to Elblągmost often – expressway almost all the way
via ŁódźS8 and A1 via Łódź and Toruń, then S7when there are disruptions on the S5 or a second address on the way

Either way, it is about 520 km and 5.5–6 hours' driving without breaks. That is why we plan a move from Wrocław to Elbląg over two days as standard. On the first day we pack and load, and on the second we unload and assemble the furniture from the morning. It is also easy to add a stop in the Tricity if some belongings are going to another home.

The Old Town, housing estates and Bażantarnia

Elbląg's Old Town was rebuilt in a modern form that echoes the historic townhouses. The buildings are new, but the streets are still narrow, and access to some of them is restricted. Zawada, Zatorze and the Nad Jarem estate are dominated by blocks of flats, where you have to expect no lift in the lower buildings. In Modrzewina and around Bażantarnia, a wooded park on the hills, there are detached houses – the ground rises noticeably here, and some streets are steep.

Moves in the Vistula Delta and by the Lagoon

We also cover villages and small towns in the area: Tolkmicko, Kadyny, Suchacz on the Vistula Lagoon, Pasłęk, Młynary and the delta villages north of Elbląg. The roads there are flat but often narrow, with drainage ditches on either side, so it matters where the vehicle can park safely.

Why people move to or from Elbląg

  • Work in industry – Elbląg has a long tradition of manufacturing turbines and steel structures, and specialists move between plants across the country.
  • Returning home after years in a big city, often from Wrocław.
  • Leaving to study or work in the Tricity, and later moving further south.
  • Retiring to a house by the Vistula Lagoon.

How we reduce the risk on a long route

Proper protection

Over 500 km, furniture has to be protected better than for a move across town: blankets, film, lashing straps and separate boxes for glassware.

One run, no transfer

Your belongings travel in one of the 11 vehicles in our fleet, from address to address. No one reloads them at an intermediate depot.

Contract and insurance

We set out the scope of work in a contract and issue a VAT invoice, and goods in transit are protected by liability insurance of up to PLN 500,000.

You can calculate the volume of your belongings with our volume calculator. If you don't have the keys to your new home yet, make use of our storage in Wrocław.

Elbląg – answers to your questions

Can a move from Wrocław to Elbląg be done in one day?

Only with a very small load. We move flats and houses over two days, so we don't carry furniture in after a full day of driving.

Can you pick up or drop off belongings in Gdańsk on the way?

Yes. The route passes the Tricity anyway, so a second address is easy to add to the plan.

I live on a steep street near Bażantarnia. Does that affect the price?

It may, if the vehicle can't park by the entrance. From photos of the access, we will tell you whether an extra person is needed for carrying.

Do you cover Braniewo and Frombork?

Yes, the whole area around the Vistula Lagoon and northern Warmia.

How early should I book a move over such a long route?

Ideally two or three weeks in advance, as the vehicle and crew are booked for two days.

Elbląg is far, but the plan will be simple

We will set two moving days, the route and the price – before any packing starts.
