Moving in Kraków

Kraków and Wrocław are linked not only by a motorway but also by a similar story: both cities attract students, tech companies and people looking for life in a big city that isn't the capital. We carry out Kraków–Wrocław moves in both directions, and from Kraków we also move people to other regions of Poland and to Germany. We plan each job from our base in Wrocław, using our own vehicles.

The A4 motorway: Opole, Katowice, Kraków

The road to Kraków is almost entirely the A4 – via Opole, Gliwice and Katowice, about 270 km. The Katowice–Kraków section is a toll road, and it gets busy on Fridays and before long weekends. It makes sense to leave Wrocław early in the morning: unloading then starts before midday, and the crew has the whole day to carry in and assemble the furniture.

Old Town, Kazimierz and Podgórze

Around the Market Square there are restricted traffic zones that require a permit to enter, and in Kazimierz the streets are narrow and lined with outdoor café seating. Tenement buildings have high storeys, so a third floor is in practice like a fifth floor in a block of flats. Before a move in central Kraków, we agree where we will carry things in from and whether consent from the road authority is needed.

Krowodrza, Grzegórzki, Dębniki

The paid parking zone covers an ever larger part of the city. In these districts, tenements, blocks of flats and new apartment buildings are mixed together, the latter with underground car parks that a large vehicle cannot enter.

Nowa Huta, Ruczaj, Bronowice

The socialist realist blocks of Nowa Huta have spacious stairwells, but often no lift. Ruczaj and Bronowice, on the other hand, are dense developer estates where you need to book the lift and arrange entry through the barrier.

Then there are things that are easy to forget. In summer and at weekends, central Kraków fills up with tourists, and the riverside boulevards and streets near Wawel are crowded from the morning. A move in the very centre is best planned for a weekday and started early, before delivery vans and coaches take every free space.
