Moving in Szczecin

Szczecin is closer to Berlin than to Warsaw, and it is linked to Wrocław by one long expressway along Poland's western border. For us, Szczecin–Wrocław moves are a route where the vehicle does not pass through a single large city along the way. We move people in both directions, from Szczecin to other parts of Poland, and also to Germany, where we run regular trips and have our own warehouse in Frankfurt am Main.

The S3: Legnica, Zieloną Góra, Gorzów, Szczecin

We leave Wrocław on the A4 motorway towards Legnica, then take the S3 expressway via Lubin, Nową Sól, Zieloną Góra, Międzyrzecz and Gorzów Wielkopolski. The whole route is about 370 km and runs mostly through forests and small towns, without the congestion typical of large conurbations. Szczecin, however, greets you with the approach via Klucz and the bridge over the Oder, where traffic slows at rush hour.

For a flat with a lift and belongings already packed, the move is completed in one long day. When the whole flat needs packing or everything has to be carried up the high stairs of a tenement, we spread the work over two days – so that carrying in and assembling furniture isn't rushed in the evening.

Szczecin tenements by the star-shaped squares

Central Szczecin was designed on the model of Paris: wide avenues converge on round squares, and between them stand four-storey tenement buildings with very high ceilings. The fourth floor of such a building is in practice as high as the sixth floor of a block of flats. The stairwells are grand, but lifts have been added only in some buildings. On top of that, there is the paid parking zone in the centre and roundabouts where stopping is not allowed. So we plan to park the vehicle in a side street or in a gateway.

Other districts – other conditions

Pogodno and Łękno

Villas and houses with gardens, where furniture, books and things in the cellar have been collected for decades. Access is easy, but there is plenty of packing to do.

The right bank

Dąbie, Słoneczne, Majowe and Bukowe are large estates of blocks of flats. From the right bank it is easy to head towards the S3, but the lifts in the high-rises are small.

Warszewo and Gumieńce

New estates and houses on the edge of the city. Families with children most often move in here, and underground car parks limit access for larger vehicles.

Szczecin, Wrocław and Germany

Many Szczecin residents work on the German side of the border or move there permanently. If you are planning a move to Germany – to Berlin, Hamburg or further west – we will handle it as an international move, with documentation and insurance. When the dates don't match, your belongings can wait in our warehouse in Wrocław or in Frankfurt am Main. You will find the details on our international moving and Frankfurt warehouse pages.

Moving in Szczecin – questions

Can a move from Szczecin to Wrocław be done in one day?

For a flat with a lift and belongings packed by the customer, usually yes. We plan large properties and tenements with no lift over two days.

I live in a tenement on Plac Grunwaldzki. Where will the vehicle park?

Stopping right by the squares is not allowed, so we look for a space in the nearest side street or in the courtyard. We agree this before moving day.

Can you move my belongings from Szczecin to Berlin?

Yes, Germany is one of our main destinations. There is no customs clearance within the European Union, but remember to register your address at your new place of residence.

Can you move only some of my belongings and store the rest?

Yes. We deliver part straight away, keep the rest in our warehouse and deliver it on an agreed date.

Do you carry furniture up to high floors in tenements with no lift?

Yes, in that case we plan a larger crew. The height and number of floors affect the cost, so we ask about them when quoting.
