Long-distance moving in Poland

Long-distance moves are jobs where the distance between your old and new address is measured in hundreds of kilometres rather than tram stops. 4RELO plans them from Wrocław, where we have our base, warehouse and our own fleet of 11 vehicles at Zabrodzie 27. We move flats, houses and offices from Wrocław to other cities, from other cities to Wrocław, and also between two cities we do not usually travel through.

On a 300 or 500 km route, there is no room for improvisation. The crew cannot pop back for a forgotten box, and a three-hour delay means unloading after dark. That is why we start planning a move to another city by discussing both addresses at the same time: the floor, the lift, the width of the stairwell, where the vehicle can park and the hours when it is allowed to pull up outside the building.

Our most frequent routes

Approximate road distances from Wrocław. A loaded vehicle travels more slowly than a car, and we add the driver's mandatory breaks to the driving time.

One vehicle, door to door

Your belongings do not go through a sorting depot or into a groupage trailer that picks up loads from several senders along the way. We load them into a vehicle matched to the volume, and that same vehicle pulls up at your new address. Less handling means fewer chances of chipping a wardrobe door, and the people who did the loading know which box holds the fittings and screws.

How we spread the move over several days

Before departure

We deliver boxes and wrapping film, and for larger jobs we pack glassware and electronics the day before. We dismantle furniture that will not fit through the door in one piece.

Loading day

In the morning, we protect the stairwell and floors, then load according to plan: heavy items at the bottom, fragile ones on top and along the sides. We time the departure to avoid traffic jams on the way out of the city.

Delivery day

On shorter routes, unloading is often done the same day. On long-distance routes, we carry in and reassemble your furniture the next morning, well rested rather than after ten hours of work.

What the cost of a move to another city depends on

  • Volume of the load – this determines the size of the vehicle. You can work it out with our volume calculator.
  • Distance – mileage, fuel and road tolls for heavy goods vehicles.
  • Conditions at both buildings – floor, lift, distance from the vehicle to the door.
  • Scope of work – packing, furniture disassembly and reassembly, protecting a piano or a safe.
  • Date – the end of the month and the summer holidays are the busiest periods.
  • Storage – when your new home will only be free in a few days' time.

When the keys to your new flat come a week later

This happens very often with long-distance moves: your tenancy ends on Friday, but the developer hands over the property ten days later. In that case, we load everything on the agreed date, your belongings wait in our warehouse in Wrocław and we deliver them on the day you collect the keys. You will find the details on our storage page.

The goods we transport are insured, we work under a written contract and issue a VAT invoice – for businesses and private customers alike. Relocating an office or an entire department to another city is covered separately on our office relocation page.

Long-distance moving – questions and answers

Do I have to travel with the crew?

No. All we need is someone to hand over the old flat and someone to open the new one. You can also leave the keys with a neighbour or the building manager, if we agree this in advance.

Do you also move people between cities other than Wrocław?

Yes, for example from Poznań to Kraków or from Gdańsk to Katowice. The quote then includes the vehicle's journey from Wrocław to the loading address.

How far in advance should I book a move to another city?

Ideally three to four weeks before the date, especially if it falls at the end of the month or during the summer holidays. We also accept shorter notice if we have a vehicle available.

What about items that cannot be insured in transit?

We recommend taking cash, documents and jewellery yourself. It is also worth packing medication and things you will need on the first evening in a separate bag.

Can you deliver my belongings to two different places?

Yes, for example some to your flat and some to your parents' house on the way. Each additional stop is shown in the quote.

Changing cities, not just addresses?

Tell us about both homes – we will prepare a free quote and a route plan.
