Moving to Dubai
In Dubai the port is close and government offices work efficiently. Most questions about a move concern something else: a permit from the tower's management, a lift deposit and the hours when furniture may be carried in. We organise moves to Dubai from Wrocław in cooperation with a partner from the FEDEMAC network who knows the rules of the city's residential communities. On our side are packing, the inventory, loading and shipping the container.
The move-in permit – the thing people forget
Most buildings and gated communities in Dubai require a move-in permit issued by the management or the developer. Without it, security will not let the truck with your furniture in. To get one, you usually need:
- a tenancy contract registered with Ejari,
- copies of your passport, visa and Emirates ID,
- the moving company's details and proof of its insurance,
- a paid deposit, refunded after the common areas are checked,
- a freight lift booking and an entry time.
The tenant submits the application, but our partner advises which details to provide. It is best to start the process right after signing the tenancy contract, because in popular towers lift slots can be booked up several days ahead.
A tower or a villa
Dubai Marina, Downtown, JLT
Apartments in high-rise buildings. Unloading in an underground car park with limited height, the lift for a few hours, protection for walls and floors in common areas. Large sofas sometimes do not fit in the lift.
Arabian Ranches, Jumeirah, The Springs
Villas and townhouses in residential communities. The truck pulls up to the door, but entering the community also requires a pass. Add garden furniture and terrace equipment.

The heat and your belongings
In summer a container at the port heats up considerably. Before shipping it is worth taking out candles, cosmetics, perfumes, vinyl records and batteries. We pack electronics in their original boxes or in extra foam. Also remember that alcohol and pork products cannot travel with household goods, and medicines that require approval in the Emirates go in your luggage with a prescription. We write more about the rules for the whole country on our moving to the United Arab Emirates page.
A smaller shipment for people on a contract
Many people move to Dubai for two or three years into a furnished apartment. In that case, instead of an exclusive container, a few cubic metres in a shared container are enough: clothes, books, children's things, a bike, favourite small pieces of furniture. Furniture from your flat in Poland can stay in our storage until you return. You can work out the volume in the calculator.
Dubai – frequently asked questions
Can a moving company carry furniture in on a Friday?
It depends on the building. Many communities restrict moves at weekends and in the evenings. The date is set according to the management's rules.
What if the sofa does not fit in the lift?
We check the furniture dimensions in Poland and ask for the lift dimensions in Dubai. If a piece will not fit, it is better to leave it at home than to pay for its voyage.
Is the moving deposit refundable?
Usually yes, once the management has checked that the common areas have not been damaged. The amount and rules are set by the building.
Can you deliver to a flat in Sharjah if I work in Dubai?
Yes. The port is the same, but community rules in Sharjah may differ and need to be checked separately.
