Moving in Gdynia

Gdynia is a city of the port, the navy and people who often change address along with their contract. Some come here to work in the maritime economy, others return south after years. We plan Gdynia–Wrocław moves as a two-day route with a set unloading time, and from Gdynia we also move people to other cities and abroad.

From Wrocław to Gdynia – about 500 km

We take the S5 via Poznań and Bydgoszcz, then the A1 motorway, and beyond Gdańsk the Tricity Bypass (S6) to the Gdynia exits. At rush hour the bypass can be jammed in both directions, so unloading in Gdynia is best started early in the morning, before the commute begins. We plan departures from Gdynia the other way round – after the morning rush.

A city on hills and a cliff

Gdynia stretches between the sea and the moraine hills. Many estates lie high up, reached by steep streets where a large vehicle has to go carefully in winter and in the rain. When quoting, we ask about the gradient of the access road and whether the vehicle can stand on level ground – safe unloading of heavy furniture depends on it.

Districts along the border with Rumią and Sopot are a separate case. From Chylonia or Cisowa it is easy to get onto the bypass, but the estate roads are lined with residents' cars. It is best to arrive there in the morning on a weekday, when some cars have already left for work and a space for unloading has freed up outside the entrance.

Modernism calls for a gentle touch

The buildings in Gdynia's city centre have original balustrades, terrazzo stairs and wooden doors that residents' associations take great care of. Before we carry in the first piece of furniture, we cover wall corners and handrails and lay mats on the stairwell floor. That way there are no awkward conversations with the building manager after the move.
