Moving in Koszalin

North on the S5 and S11
The route from Wrocław is about 430 km. We take the S5 expressway to Poznań, then head north on the S11 through Piła and Szczecinek to Koszalin. The drive usually takes 5–5.5 hours. Larger flats and houses are moved over two days – loading in Wrocław first, then unloading at your new address the following day. A studio flat can sometimes be done in a single day if we set off early in the morning.
Summer by the sea means different traffic
In July and August the roads from Koszalin towards Mielno and Sarbinowo are packed with tourists, and parking in the seaside towns is hard to find. A move to a house by the beach is best planned for May, June or September.
Koszalin from the inside
The town sits at the foot of Chełmska Hill, so the eastern districts are noticeably higher than the centre. The Tysiąclecia, Na Skarpie and Unii Europejskiej estates are mostly blocks of flats from the 1970s and 1980s, many without a lift. Rokosowo and Lechitów have mixed housing, including newer buildings with underground car parks. Detached houses are found in Wilkowo, Jamno and around Raduszka. Parking in Śródmieście is paid, and the streets around the town hall are narrow.
Houses by the beach
Mielno and Unieście lie on the spit between the sea and Lake Jamno. There is only one access road, and plots are often sandy, which makes it hard for a heavy vehicle to get in. We check this on photos and send a smaller vehicle if needed.
The seaside climate matters for your belongings too. Damp, salty air and strong winds mean we wrap mattresses, sofas and electronics tightly in film before they even leave the house, and unload under cover if it rains. If a house by the sea has stood empty for a long time, we recommend checking it for damp before the furniture goes in.
