Moving to the Czech Republic

The nearest border crossing into the Czech Republic is about a hundred kilometres from Wrocław, and many Czech towns are quicker to reach than Warsaw. We carry out moves to the Czech Republic regularly – after Germany, it is the second destination our vehicles serve with scheduled runs. As a result, even a small move does not wait weeks for a full load to build up.

Border crossings and Czech cities

The choice of crossing depends on where you are going. The Sudetes separate Lower Silesia from the Czech Republic, so every route leads over a pass or through a valley, and in winter conditions there vary more than on the motorway.

Formalities after moving to the Czech Republic

Registering your residence – an EU citizen staying in the Czech Republic for more than 30 days reports their place of residence to the foreign police department, unless their accommodation provider does it for them.
Certificate of temporary residence – not compulsory, but it makes things easier with banks and employers.
Insurance number – if you are employed in the Czech Republic, your employer registers you with a Czech health insurance company.
Car – when you transfer your permanent residence, the car is registered at the Czech vehicle registration office.
Electronic vignette – required for cars on Czech motorways if you are following the crew in your own vehicle.

What to know before booking transport

No customs duty or declarations

The Czech Republic is in the European Union, so we move your belongings with no declarations. We provide a contract and VAT invoice just as for a move within Poland.

Restrictions for lorries

On summer holiday weekends, heavy vehicles are banned from main roads in the Czech Republic at certain times. We set the unloading day with that margin in mind.

Mountains in winter

From November to March, the passes in the Sudetes can be snowed in. We then choose a lower crossing and check the road reports before setting off.

Relocating a company to the Czech Republic
