Moving in Sobótka

Sobótka lies at the foot of Mount Ślężą, about 35 kilometres south-west of Wrocław, in the heart of the Ślężą Landscape Park. For many people from Wrocław it is a place for weekend trips, and increasingly a permanent address too. Moving in Sobótka means jobs that combine the proximity of a big city with conditions more familiar from the mountains: steep streets, houses on slopes and forest access roads.

The Ślężą massif and access by vehicle

The town itself, with its market square and church, lies fairly low, but the closer you get to the mountain, the higher the ground rises. In Sulistrowice, Sobotka-Gorka or near the road to the Tąpadła Pass, houses stand higher up, and the roads are narrow and winding. On top of that, on warm weekends the area around Mount Ślężą fills up with tourists – car parks and verges are packed, and there are more cyclists on the roads. So we prefer to plan moves in this part of the municipality from Monday to Friday, and we fit the arrival time around the traffic.

Types of property around Mount Ślężą

Year-round houses

New detached houses in Sobótka, Rogów Sobócki and Strzegomiany. Usually a large volume and easy loading from the driveway.

Holiday cottages

Wooden cottages in Sulistrowice and nearby settlements, often on unsurfaced roads. Small doors, cramped attics, garden furniture and outdoor gear.

Flats in the centre

Tenement buildings and small blocks by the market square. Narrow stairwells and no lifts, but a short distance to the vehicle.

Moving from a holiday cottage for good

A common situation in Sobótka municipality: someone sells a holiday cottage and moves its contents to a flat in Wrocław, or the other way round – swaps the holiday home for a year-round house and brings furniture over from the city. With wooden cottages, we take particular care with the walls and door frames, because they are easily dented. Anything that won't fit in the new place can be kept in our warehouse or taken away.

Granite, stone steps and heavy furniture

The Mount Ślężą area is famous for its granite and gabbro quarries, and many houses in Sobótka and Strzegomiany have stone outdoor steps, terraces and thresholds. They are durable, but slippery after rain and unforgiving to dropped furniture. On entrances like these we lay anti-slip mats, and heavy items such as oak wardrobes or pianos are carried down by a larger crew. We also bring corner guards, because a stone edge can chip veneer at the slightest scrape.

From Sobótka we move belongings not only to Wrocław, but also to Świdnica, Dzierzoniow and further across Poland.

Sobótka – questions about moving

Can you drive up to a house in Sulistrowice on a forest road?

If the road allows it – yes. If it is too narrow or too soft, we send a smaller vehicle or carry things from a spot where the vehicle can park safely.

Is a weekend move near Mount Ślężą a good idea?

It can be done, but on warm weekends tourist traffic makes the drive longer and parking harder. If you can, choose a weekday.

How long is the drive from Wrocław to Sobótka?

Usually about 45 minutes. We complete a move from a flat or a holiday cottage in one day.

Will you move garden equipment and patio furniture?

Yes. We pack and secure lawnmowers, barbecues and garden furniture separately, so they don't damage your indoor furniture on the journey.
