Moving in Oborniki Śląskie
Before the war, Oborniki Śląskie was a spa town, and it has kept that character to this day: a green, hilly little town surrounded by forests, with pre-war villas tucked away among the trees. The centre of Wrocław is about 25 kilometres away, and residents commute to work by train or by car through Świniary and Pęgów. We carry out moving in Oborniki Śląskie with this particular setting in mind – old houses, forest roads and furniture that has often been in the family for generations.
Villas with character and stairs with a history
A pre-war villa is a beautiful place to live, but it can be hard work on moving day. Wooden stairs are often winding and slippery, banisters are delicate and floorboards scratch easily. In houses like these, we lay thick mats along the entire carrying route, protect the handrails and wall corners, and wrap solid wood furniture in blankets rather than just film, so that no condensation forms. When a sideboard or wardrobe won't go through a door, we don't try to force it – we discuss whether the furniture can be taken apart or whether it is better to take it out through a window or onto the terrace.
Forest roads and access to the house
Many properties in Oborniki and the surrounding villages – Osola, Pęgów, Kotowice or Wielka Lipa – are on narrow, unsurfaced roads among the trees. Low-hanging branches and soft verges are real obstacles for a tall vehicle. That is why we ask about access in great detail, and if in doubt, we come and look at the site before the move. Sometimes two trips in a smaller vehicle are a better solution than one trip in a large one that won't fit under the gate.
Who moves to Oborniki
Families from Wrocław
Moving out of a flat in a block to a house with a garden, usually from Psie Pole, Kowale or Karłowice. Lots of boxes and some furniture to take apart.
Heirs of old houses
Clearing out a grandparents' villa, choosing what to take and removing the rest. We combine the move with clearing out the contents.
People moving back to the city
Selling a house in Oborniki and moving to a smaller flat in Wrocław. Some of the furniture often goes into storage for a while.
What to take into account for the quote
| Situation | Effect on the move |
|---|---|
| Antique furniture and instruments | more protective materials and more careful loading |
| Access via a forest road | a smaller vehicle or longer carrying |
| Winding wooden stairs | a larger crew and disassembly of large furniture |
| Clearing out the house | removal of items that aren't coming with you, priced separately |
| A gap between properties | storage in our warehouse in Wrocław |
The scope of packing, disassembly and removal is described under additional services. If you need to store furniture, take a look at our storage section.
The railway, the road through Pęgów and journey time
Oborniki has a good rail connection with Wrocław, but by car through Świniary and Pęgów you have to allow for driving through villages and narrow sections of road. That is why we plan to leave with the load outside school-run hours, and we carry heavy furniture in as soon as we arrive, while the crew is at its freshest.
Oborniki Śląskie – customer questions
Can you move an old sideboard from a villa without damaging it?
Yes. We wrap old furniture in blankets, protect any protruding parts and load it so that nothing presses on it. Delicate glass from display cabinets is packed separately.
My house is on a forest road. What vehicle will come?
One that fits the access road. We have vehicles of different sizes, so we choose one based on your description or a look at the road.
Can you help clear out my parents' house?
Yes. We move selected items to the new address, and carry out and take the rest away for disposal on the same date.
How long does a move from Oborniki to Wrocław take?
The drive itself usually takes about 40 minutes. We move a flat in one day, and a house with a full clearance sometimes in two.
