A broken fridge, a washing machine with failed bearings, a CRT television from the grandparents' room – each of these is waste electrical and electronic equipment, WEEE for short. It must not be put in mixed waste bins or left by the bin store, because it contains substances harmful to the environment. So electronics and appliance disposal in Wrocław starts with handing the equipment over to a place authorised to accept it. On this page we explain honestly when you can do this yourself for free, and when it's worth leaving it to us.

When buying new equipment
A retailer delivering new equipment should take back used equipment of the same type, in a quantity no greater than you bought. Ask about this when you order delivery.
At a large shop
Large electronics shops accept small used devices, such as a hairdryer or phone, even without a purchase. You'll find the rules at the customer service desk.
At a recycling centre
Wrocław residents can hand in used equipment at municipal recycling centres (PSZOK). However, you have to bring it there yourself.
When to hire a company to dispose of appliances
The free routes have limitations. A shop only takes old equipment when delivering new, and to get a fridge to a PSZOK you need your own vehicle and have to carry it down from the fourth floor yourself. Hiring someone makes sense when there are several appliances, you aren't buying new ones, you're clearing a whole flat or you simply have no way of transporting a heavy appliance. We then carry the equipment out, transport it and hand it over to a collection point or processing plant. The disposal method – depending on the type and amount of equipment – is agreed when quoting.

Why we don't take equipment apart on site
Sometimes people want to hand over a fridge without its compressor or a TV without its casing, because the more valuable parts have been removed. Incomplete equipment is a problem for processing plants, and dismantling cooling appliances risks releasing refrigerant. That is why we take equipment whole, just as it stands in the flat.
How to prepare equipment for collection
- Unplug the equipment, and have an installer disconnect a gas cooker or washing machine.
- Defrost and empty the fridge or freezer the day before, with a towel underneath for the water.
- Remove any remaining water and items from the drum of the washing machine and from the dishwasher.
- Delete data from computers, phones and drives – after collection we have no access to them.
- Take the batteries out of remote controls and small devices, if possible.
We also collect used equipment during a flat clearance and old furniture removal – in a single trip.

Can I leave an old washing machine by the bins?
No. Used electrical equipment must not go into mixed waste or be abandoned. It has to be handed in at a shop, a collection point or a PSZOK.
Will the shop take my old fridge when delivering the new one?
A retailer delivering new equipment should take back used equipment of the same type. It's worth mentioning this when you order, as shops organise collection in different ways.
Will you collect equipment from an upper floor with no lift?
Yes. Two of us carry fridges, washing machines and CRT televisions down the stairs, protecting the stairwell.
Where does the collected equipment go?
To a collection point for used equipment or a processing plant, depending on the type and amount. The specific place is agreed when quoting.
Will a business receive an invoice for equipment disposal?
We issue a VAT invoice for carrying out and transport. If your business needs documents confirming the waste has been handed over, tell us before placing the order.
