Moving in Polkowice

Polkowice is one of the pillars of the Legnica-Głogów Copper Belt. The town grew up alongside the KGHM copper mine and to this day lives largely from mining and the plants in the economic zone. It's also a place where many new estates and houses have been built in recent years. How far from Wrocław

Polkowice lies about 100 kilometres north-west of Wrocław. We usually take the A4 motorway to Legnica, then the S3 expressway towards Lubin, and cover the final stretch on local roads. A young town, new buildings

Unlike many towns in Lower Silesia, Polkowice doesn't have a large old town full of tenements. It's dominated by blocks built when the mine expanded and newer estates with lifts, underground garages and gated courtyards. That makes the work easier, but there are pitfalls: the entrance to an underground garage is often too low for a removal vehicle, and you need a remote or a code for the estate gate. Work at the mine and in the plants is shift-based, so a move has to fit around the rota. We arrange a day off shift or work on a Saturday.
