Moving in Olsztyn
Olsztyn is one of the cities furthest from Wrocław that we regularly move homes to. Olsztyn–Wrocław moves need a different plan from short routes: what counts is the driver's working hours, the unloading time and whether your belongings have to spend the night in the vehicle. 4RELO organises everything, from packing in Lower Silesia to setting up your furniture in Warmia – and the other way round.
Across half of Poland: the route and journey time
Olsztyn is about 480 km away. Most often we take the S8 expressway to Piotrków Trybunalski, then the A1 motorway to Toruń and on via Ostróda to Olsztyn. The drive alone takes 5.5–6 hours, and more with the breaks required for the driver. In practice, the move goes like this: on the first day we pack and load, the vehicle leaves in the evening or the next morning, and unloading in Olsztyn takes place on the second day. If you would rather your belongings didn't spend the night in the vehicle, they stay overnight in our warehouse in Wrocław.
A city of lakes and its addresses
There are more than a dozen lakes within Olsztyn's city limits, and this shapes the street layout. Houses by Lake Ukiel, Lake Skandą or Lake Długie often stand on narrow dead-end roads where a lorry can't turn round. The largest estates, on the other hand – Jaroty, Pieczewo and Nagórki – are blocks with car parks, but also heavy traffic in the evening, so unloading is best started before midday. The city centre and Zatorze are dominated by tenement buildings with no lifts, and there are access restrictions around the Old Town.
Kortowo and the university area
The University of Warmia and Mazury campus lies by a lake, surrounded by greenery. Many moves here are small loads for students and academic staff, which we combine with other runs to the north.
New estates in Dajtki and Gutkowo
Developer and terraced housing is growing here. We check the entrance to the underground car park and book the lift with the building manager.
Houses outside the city
Stawiguda, Dywity, Barczewo, Purda – moves from large flats to houses, often with garden furniture and sports equipment.
Tenements in the centre
Narrow stairwells and wooden stairs. We take large furniture apart on site and protect the banisters.
Reasons for moves between Warmia and Lower Silesia
Those leaving Olsztyn for Wrocław are mainly young professionals looking for work at large companies. In the other direction, we move people who value peace and quiet, the lakes and lower property prices, and who work remotely. Olsztyn also has large industrial plants, including tyre manufacturing, so there are employee relocations between company sites too.
On a long route, a warehouse comes in handy
Over a distance of nearly 500 km, it doesn't pay to make two trips. If your flat in Olsztyn will be ready later, we will store your belongings in our warehouse in Wrocław and deliver everything in a single run. See: storage.
Every job is carried out under a contract, with a VAT invoice and liability insurance of up to PLN 500,000. You can calculate the volume of your belongings with our volume calculator.
Moving to Olsztyn – questions
Does a move from Wrocław to Olsztyn take two days?
Usually, yes: loading on the first day, unloading on the second. For a studio flat, it can sometimes be done in one very long day.
Where are my belongings overnight between loading and unloading?
In the locked, loaded vehicle or – if we agree this – in our warehouse in Wrocław, from where they set off in the morning.
I have a lakeside house on a narrow road. Is that a problem?
No, as long as we know in advance. Based on photos, we choose a smaller vehicle or plan to carry things from a spot where it is possible to turn round.
Do you cover Ostróda, Mrągowo and Giżycko?
Yes, the whole of Warmia and Masuria. The quote depends on the volume of belongings and access.
