Moving to Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, a city of trade fairs, fashion, advertising and the headquarters of large corporations. Specialists posted by their employers come here, as do whole families looking for stable work on the Rhine. Moving to Düsseldorf from Wrocław is one of the longer routes we cover in Germany, so we start with a plan: when you collect the keys, whether the flat has a kitchen and which side of the Rhine your new address is on.
Nearly 900 kilometres – how we drive
From Wrocław we take the A4 motorway via Dresden, then past Leipzig and Halle towards Kassel, and from there the A44 through the Ruhr to Düsseldorf. The route is nearly 900 kilometres, with nine to ten hours of pure driving time in a van, not counting motorway congestion around Essen and Duisburg. We always split a journey like this: loading in Wrocław and departure, then unloading the next day, ideally before midday, when there is less traffic in the city.
If the date for taking over the flat is uncertain, the load can stop at our warehouse in Frankfurt am Main. It's about two and a half hours' drive from Frankfurt to Düsseldorf, so delivery on the day you choose is easy to plan.
A flat in Düsseldorf – what to prepare for
A kitchen isn't always included
In Germany, many rental flats are let without a fitted kitchen. It's worth checking the tenancy agreement – sometimes it pays to bring your kitchen units from Poland, and sometimes to buy the kitchen from the previous tenant.
Tenements with high ceilings
Districts such as Pempelfort, Flingern and Unterbilk are dominated by old buildings with high floors and narrow stairwells, often without a lift.
The left bank of the Rhine
Oberkassel and Niederkassel are on the other side of the river. Crossing the bridges at rush hour makes unloading take longer, so we allow for it in the plan for the day.
Office buildings and apartments
In MedienHafen and on new developments, lifts and garage entrances have to be booked. It's best to give us the building manager's details before we set off.
Low-emission zone and parking
Düsseldorf has a low-emission zone (Umweltzone), which vehicles with a green sticker may enter – our vehicle for this route has one fitted before departure. At your new address, it's worth arranging a temporary no-stopping zone for unloading day. In the centre and around Königsallee there are practically no free spaces, and without a reservation the van ends up double-parked and blocking traffic.

Moving to Düsseldorf – questions
Will you move kitchen units to Düsseldorf?
Yes. We dismantle the kitchen in Wrocław and reassemble the carcasses on site. Water, electricity and gas must be connected by a local installer, and the worktops may need cutting to fit the new room.
How many days does a move from Wrocław to Düsseldorf take?
We plan it over two days. If there's a longer wait for the keys, the load waits in our Frankfurt warehouse.
Do you also cover Neuss, Ratingen and Cologne?

No. A move within the European Union doesn't require clearance – a contract and an inventory of the items being transported are enough.
