Moving in Rybnik

The Wrocław–Rybnik route: how long it takes
Rybnik is about 200 km away. We take the A4 motorway towards Katowice, and from the Sośnica interchange the A1 motorway south to the exit near Żory or Świerklany. The drive itself usually takes 2–2.5 hours, but the A4 section between Gliwice and Katowice can be congested at rush hour. That is why we plan loading in Wrocław early in the morning – unloading in Rybnik is then finished the same day, with the furniture assembled before evening.
What makes a move in Rybnik different
Miners' housing and old tenements
In Niedobczyce, Chwałowice and Paruszowiec there are red-brick miners' houses with narrow wooden stairs. Large wardrobes and corner sofas often have to be taken apart inside the flat, as they won't get round the turn of the stairwell in one piece.
Prefabricated blocks of flats
Nowiny, Maroko-Nowiny and Boguszowice Osiedle are four-storey buildings with no lift. Carrying things up to the top floor affects working time, so we ask about the floor when quoting.
Houses on the outskirts
Kamień, Grabownia, Golejów and Zamysłów are areas of detached houses with large garages and cellars. Here we usually move more than from a flat, including tools, bikes and garden furniture.
Rybnik also has its own mining-related quirks. Some houses near former mines have cracked walls and uneven driveways due to mining damage, which makes manoeuvring the vehicle harder. Before arriving, we check the access and the space by the gate on photos.
