Moving in Głogów
Głogów, on the Oder at the northern edge of Lower Silesia, is a town with a remarkable history: in 1945, as a fortress, it was almost completely destroyed, and its old town was rebuilt over the following decades. Today it is an important centre of the copper industry, with a KGHM smelter. It is about 100 kilometres from Wrocław, which means an hour and a half's drive. We carry out moving in Głogów in a single trip, with no reloading, most often on the Głogów–Wrocław route and from Głogów to other regions.
Which way we drive to Głogów
There are two main options from Wrocław. The first is the A4 motorway to Legnica and then the S3 expressway towards Polkowice, leaving it for Głogów – longer in kilometres, but smooth. The second goes through Oborniki Śląskie, Wołów and Scinawa on national and regional roads – shorter, but through towns and villages, over level crossings and across a bridge on the Oder. The choice depends on the size of the vehicle, the departure time and whether we are collecting some belongings from another address on the way.
Głogów – an old town rebuilt anew
Many of the tenement buildings in the centre of Głogów are new – built over the last thirty years on the old plots, with shapes that echo the pre-war buildings. In practice, this means lifts and wider stairwells than in a typical old town, but also narrow streets and little room to stop a vehicle. Outside the centre, the estates dating from the smelter's growth dominate: Kopernik, Hutników and Piastów Śląskich, with prefabricated blocks. New detached houses are going up on the outskirts, for example in Brzostow, and in surrounding villages such as Serby.
Centre
New tenement buildings with lifts, but few parking spaces. We agree with you where the vehicle can stop while we unload.
Estates of blocks
Buildings of four storeys and higher with narrow lifts. Plenty of furniture disassembly and carrying appliances down the stairs.
Houses outside town
Larger volumes, garages and gardens. The easiest loading, but usually a longer working day.
A long route – how we look after the load
Over a hundred kilometres, how the vehicle is packed matters more than on a move within a city. We strap furniture to the sides of the load space, lay blankets between the pieces, and put boxes with heavy contents at the bottom. Delicate items – mirrors, pictures, TVs – travel upright in special packaging. If the move has two stages, your belongings can wait in our warehouse in Wrocław in the meantime.
What affects the price
| Factor | Significance |
|---|---|
| Distance | about 100 km from Wrocław, an hour and a half's drive |
| Volume | whether everything will fit in a single trip |
| Access to the property | lift, floor, parking in the centre |
| Packing and disassembly | details in our additional services section |
You can prepare a list of your belongings in the volume calculator – based on it, we will choose the vehicle and check whether one trip is enough.
Questions about moving in Głogów
Can a move from Głogów to Wrocław be done in one day?
For a flat, yes – an hour and a half's drive fits into a working day. We spread a large house with full packing over two days.
Will you come to Głogów if I am moving within the town?
Yes, although for a local move we add the cost of travelling from Wrocław. That is why larger jobs or moves to another town are the best value.
Can you get to a tenement building in the centre?
Usually, yes, although sometimes the vehicle has to park on the next street. We check this before the move.
Is my furniture insured on such a long route?
Yes. Property in transit is covered by liability insurance of up to PLN 500,000, and everything is carried out under a contract with a VAT invoice.
