Moving in Bydgoszcz

For many people, Bydgoszcz is the city they leave to study in Wrocław, or the one they return to after years to be closer to their parents. We carry out Bydgoszcz–Wrocław moves in both directions, and from Bydgoszcz we also move people to the Tricity, Warsaw and southern Poland. We work with our own vehicles, which set off from our base at Zabrodzie 27 in Wrocław.

The S5 route – about three hours behind the wheel

We cover the whole distance on the S5 expressway: from Wrocław via Leszno to Poznań, then via Gniezno and Żnin to Bydgoszcz. That is roughly 300 km with no traffic lights or drives through city centres, and for a loaded vehicle just over three hours including a break. This means we usually move a two- or three-room flat in one day: loading in the morning, carrying in and assembly in the afternoon.

City centre and Old Town

The tenement buildings on Gdańska and Dworcowa streets and around the Old Market Square have high ground-floor premises and stairs that, after a hundred years, can be uneven. The centre has a paid parking zone, and some streets by the Brdą river and Mill Island are narrow or closed to traffic. We agree where the vehicle will park in advance, ideally on the courtyard side.

Fordon

The largest district of Bydgoszcz, built on an escarpment above the Vistula. It consists mainly of housing estates – Tatrzańskie, Bajka, Przylesie, Szybowników – with long buildings and many entrances. Long distances between the car park and the entrance, changes in level and narrow lifts mean that a move in Fordon requires careful checking of which entrance the vehicle can reach.

Szwederowo, Błonie, Wyżyny

Here, blocks of flats from the 1960s and 1970s mix with pre-war houses and new buildings squeezed in between the older ones. The streets in Szwederowo are steep, which matters when unloading heavy furniture and household appliances.

Osowa Góra, Białe Błota, Osielsko

Detached houses within the city and just beyond its limits. Here, the work usually starts in the garage and cellar, and a house with a garden often holds twice as many belongings as a flat of a similar size.

In Bydgoszcz it is also easy to come across a flat in a renovated granary or a loft by the Brdą. Such buildings usually have a lift, but access from the riverside is often closed to vehicles, and the underground car park is too low for a moving lorry. In that case, we agree with the building manager which street we will carry things in from and how long we can park there.
