Moving in Góra

Góra is a county town on the northern edge of Lower Silesia, on the border with Greater Poland. It's worth clarifying straight away: this is Góra in Góra County, not Jelenią Góra or Kamienną Góra in the Sudetes. It's a flat, agricultural region with fields, small villages and a historic church in the town centre. How long the drive from Wrocław to Góra takes

Góra lies about 90 kilometres north-west of Wrocław. There's no motorway or expressway there, so we cover most of the route on national and regional roads through smaller towns and villages. The drive usually takes about an hour and a half. On flat terrain the going is steady, but farm machinery in season and driving through village centres can lengthen the journey, which we factor into the arrival time.

Moves in an agricultural region

In the town itself, blocks of flats and detached houses predominate, while in the municipalities of Wąsosz, Niechlów and Jemielno there are farms and country houses with yards. A move like this usually involves more than the furniture from the rooms: there are also things from cellars, pantries, workshops and garages. When quoting, we ask for a list from each building, because these are what most often surprise people with their volume. Access to farms is generally good, but it's worth checking whether the vehicle will fit through the gate and whether the yard is surfaced.

Handing over a farm and moving parents

In Góra County, we often deal with older parents handing over the farm and moving to a flat in town or to their children in Wrocław. In that case only some of the furniture goes to the new address, while the rest stays for the successors or is removed. Closer to Leszno and Głogów than to Wrocław

Góra is close to Leszno and Głogów, so many moves are short routes to neighbouring counties, including in Greater Poland. For us the provincial border makes no difference – what counts is the amount of belongings, access to the properties and the date.
